He said that it is not right to degrade the medium which has given work, recognition and audience love to the actors for so many years. He said that many times people do such stunts to remain in the news, especially when people start forgetting them.
Responding to Rohit Roy's statement while talking to IANS, Indira said, “It is very bad to use the word 'dustbin' for a medium like TV. Especially from such a veteran actor, who himself has come from this medium. TV has given a platform to many skilled actors to work and showcase their art. It is not right to underestimate TV, because many big directors have reached films from this medium.”
She further said, “There are many popular directors who turned to films after making great shows on TV. Everyone has their own opinion. For me, television is not just a place of work but also a source of respect and livelihood. This is my respect for me. On Rohit Roy's statement, I would just like to say that this is his point of view and he can stick to it.”
Indira said, “Many times people who are forgotten by people do such stunts to remain in the news. Perhaps Rohit Roy is one of them. For me, the biggest strength of TV is its reach. TV reaches every home and gives actors an opportunity to connect with the audience on a daily basis. No other medium can easily create such a place of daily connection.”
He said, “After being a part of TV for so many years, it is disappointing to let the same medium down. It is also important to respect the platform which has given someone an identity.”
