Cricket Updates: After the final of the Women's Asia Cup played in Dubai, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi once again came into the limelight. During the match between India and Sri Lanka, some Indian supporters present in the stadium raised slogans against Naqvi. In the video going viral on social media, fans are heard calling him 'trophy thief'.

In this match, the Indian women's team performed brilliantly and defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs and became the champion of Asia Cup for the eighth time. After winning the title, however, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy when it came to know that the trophy was to be handed over to Naqvi at the awards ceremony.
Came on stage, but didn't stay long
Naqvi handed over the runner-up check to the Sri Lankan team. After this he remained present on the stage for some time, but the trophy was not given to the Indian team. After this Naqvi left from there.
After the match, a video of Indian supporters present in the stadium surfaced. In this, spectators wearing Team India jersey were seen continuously raising slogans against Naqvi while looking towards the stage. In the video, it is being claimed that slogans of 'trophy thief' were being raised by the supporters.

Last year's controversy again reminded
This resentment against Naqvi has not come to light for the first time. A similar controversy was seen after the final of the Men's Asia Cup last year. India won the title by defeating Pakistan, but the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi. After this Naqvi took the trophy with himself. After the same incident, the 'trophy thief' taunt about him came into discussion among the Indian supporters.

This time also the same situation was repeated in the trophy ceremony. The Indian team did not accept the trophy from Naqvi and despite winning the title, this part of the awards ceremony became a subject of controversy.

BCCI instructions were followed
After the match, Indian team coach Amol Majumdar said that the team had already been instructed by BCCI that if Naqvi comes to give the trophy, then it is not to accept it. The team took the decision according to these instructions.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia also told Sports Today that the decision not to accept the trophy from Naqvi was taken keeping in mind the sentiments of the people of the country and the incident related to the trophy that happened with the men's team last year.
