Patna. To make farming easy and modern in Bihar, the government is giving huge subsidy to the farmers on the purchase of agricultural equipment. Under the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme (SMAM), 40 to 80 percent subsidy is being given on 86 types of agricultural equipment. Eligible farmers can apply online till 30 September.

To avail the benefit of subsidy, it is necessary for the farmer to be registered with the Agriculture Department. For this, farmers will have to register by visiting dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in. After this, application for related agricultural equipment can be made with the help of Registration ID on the agricultural mechanization portal farmech.bihar.gov.in.
To apply, the farmer must be at least 18 years of age, have a mobile number linked to Aadhaar and an active bank account.
Selection will be done by lottery
After completion of the application process, eligible farmers will be selected through online lottery. The selected farmer will have to purchase agricultural equipment within the stipulated time. After this the grant amount will be sent directly to the bank account through DBT.
Apart from this, there is also a provision of assistance up to lakhs of rupees in the scheme for setting up Kisan Drone Centre, Custom Hiring Center and Agricultural Equipment Bank. This scheme is a big opportunity for farmers to reduce the cost of farming and increase access to modern machines.
