Assembly elections are going to be held in Punjab after about five months and by the end of this month, election campaigning will start on a large scale in the state. The country's two national parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, are preparing to undertake major political tours in the state. Prominent central leaders of both the parties will also participate in these visits. Rahul Gandhi himself can lead the yatra from the Congress side. At the same time, National President Nitin Nabin will participate in BJP's visit. Along with this, there is speculation that PM Modi and Amit Shah may also participate in these visits.
Punjab BJP is planning to take out three different yatras. Today BJP leader and Punjab unit chief Kewal Singh Dhillon met DGP Gaurav Yadav and demanded security for BJP's 'Drug Free Punjab Yatra'. BJP will conduct this yatra from September 18 to September 30 and will cover all 117 assembly constituencies during this period.

Journey on the lines of West Bengal
Bharatiya Janata Party has also formed the government for the first time in West Bengal this year. Even in Bengal, before the elections, BJP had launched an aggressive campaign against TMC on the issue of women's safety. Just before the elections, BJP took out a yatra and this created an atmosphere against Mamata Banerjee. Now BJP is planning to do something similar in Punjab. In Punjab, BJP has planned to take out the Yatra on a total of four routes and through this the party will reach all the 117 seats. It is noteworthy that this time BJP is continuously talking about contesting elections on all the seats without alliance.
Will corner the government on three issues
BJP state president Kewal Singh Dhillon said regarding this yatra that increasing drug addiction, deteriorating law and order and corruption spreading from tehsil and police station to the Chief Minister's office are the main problems of Punjab and BJP is taking out the yatra against these. He said that this is not just a journey to spread awareness against drugs, but an effort to counter the serious threat posed by drugs to Punjabiyat, our culture, values, courage and the glorious identity of the land of Gurus. BJP hopes that through this visit they can get benefits in the upcoming elections.
Congress trip stalled
Congress is the main opposition party in Punjab but due to factionalism within the party, the campaign has not started yet. The Congress high command had announced the team for the upcoming assembly elections in July but despite getting an important role in the team, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi got angry. He along with his supporters was demanding the removal of party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding. However, the high command is not ready to accept their demand. Amidst this entire controversy, Rahul Gandhi's proposed visit is continuously getting delayed. Even after its announcement, Congress has still not been able to make a plan to start the yatra.

Will Pilot end factionalism?
Bhupesh Baghel was preparing for Rahul Gandhi's visit but due to factionalism within the party, the party removed him. Now in his place, former Deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot has been given the charge of Punjab. After he was made in-charge, leaders of all the groups have met him. Tomorrow on September 15, Punjab Congress will protest under his leadership demanding the resignation of the Finance Minister of Punjab. Many groups have appealed regarding this. Charanjit Singh Channi, who till now has stayed away from party programs, has himself posted about this program and appealed to the people to reach Chandigarh.
On Wednesday, Sachin Pailach will come to Punjab for the first time after becoming in-charge and after tomorrow's protest, many things can become clear regarding the upcoming plans of Punjab Congress. The first challenge before Sachin Pilot is to bring all the Congress leaders on one platform and then prepare for Rahul Gandhi's visit. Rahul Gandhi's journey may start in the last week of September.
