Record demand of 17,423 MW met

According to Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, there has been no power cut in Punjab since September 13 till now due to power shortage. He said that during this period, electricity is being provided continuously to all four major areas.

The demand for electricity in September this year has increased significantly compared to normal years. In previous years the demand during September was around 13,100 MW was around 100,000, whereas this year it has increased to around 16,600 MW Reached. After this the state also met a new record demand of 17,423 MW.

priority to farmers

The Electricity Minister said that providing electricity to farmers during the paddy season is the priority of the government. He said that recently there were technical glitches in two private thermal power plants. The team of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) worked tirelessly to restart these plants.

Arrangements have also been made to provide additional electricity to the farmers to compensate for the earlier power cuts. The government says that keeping in mind the needs of the agricultural sector, priority is being given to power supply.

All 10 thermal units at full capacity

Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that all the 10 thermal units Working at full capacity. A unit of a private power plant has also restarted, due to which Punjab has started getting 100 MW electricity.

He said that Punjab Government is continuously monitoring and taking necessary steps to manage the power system. The Minister also appreciated the efforts of the officers and employees of PSPCL.

Mentioned about Guru Amardas Thermal Plant

The minister also termed the purchase of Guru Amardas Thermal Plant by the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann as important. He said that this plant has played an important role in strengthening the state's power system at a time of record power demand.

He said that despite the rapid increase in demand for electricity in Punjab, the government has maintained the supply system. The result of this is the fulfillment of record 17,423 MW demand.
