Uttarakhand News: The government has taken a tough stance regarding the poor condition of roads in Uttarakhand and the worsening situation after monsoon. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made it clear to the officials in the high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat that the public should not face any problem in transportation. He has given instructions to make all the damaged roads of the state pothole free within the stipulated time. The Chief Minister bluntly said that there will be no compromise on quality in construction and repair work. If negligence is found at any level, strict action will be taken against the concerned department and executing agencies.
Surprise inspection will take place any time after October 15
The Chief Minister has given a direct warning to the officials to speed up the road repair works. He said that after October 15, they can start traveling by road any time to check the ground reality themselves. During this, he will make a surprise inspection of the condition of the roads and see for himself the work done at the ground level. He has instructed all the District Magistrates to continuously review the roads in their districts. There should be effective monitoring of construction works so that the work is not visible only on paper but its actual impact is visible on the roads.
Safety of devotees is top priority during Chardham Yatra
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also took detailed details of the arrangements for Chardham Yatra going on in the state. He said that the convenience and safety of the devotees coming to Devbhoomi from across the country and the world is the first priority of the government. Complete arrangements should be made for traffic management, clean water, health facilities and cleanliness on the travel routes. He asked the captains and administrative officers of the concerned districts to work in coordination so that the passengers do not face jam or inconvenience at any stop. Instructions have also been given to always keep health posts and ambulance services ready on the travel routes.
Home based solution through Jan Jan Ki Sarkar campaign
The Chief Minister also issued guidelines regarding the preparations for the third phase of Jan Jan ki Sarkar, Jan Jan ke Dwar campaign, which is being run to bring the administration in direct contact with the public. He said that the main objective of this campaign is that the common citizen does not have to visit government offices for small tasks. Instructions have been given to the officials that the benefits of government welfare schemes should be extended directly to the needy through camps. Whatever problems arise, they should be solved on the spot as soon as possible.
Public participation will increase through Seva Sankalp campaign
The Chief Minister has given instructions to implement the programs decided under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. He said that the success of any government scheme depends on public participation. Therefore, every section of the society should be included in this campaign. The government intends that public welfare policies should reach the last person sitting in remote villages. Officials have been asked to ensure that eligible people get assistance in a time bound manner without any hindrance. Any kind of slowness or laxity in the functioning will not be tolerated.
Strong arrangements to prevent infectious diseases and swine flu
In view of seasonal changes and the possibility of infectious diseases, the Chief Minister has asked the Health Department to remain completely alert. He has given instructions to take timely concrete steps to prevent swine flu and water-borne diseases. District Magistrates have been instructed to conduct surprise visits to government hospitals and community health centers themselves. There should be proper arrangements for life-saving medicines, necessary testing equipment and cleanliness in hospitals. Instructions have been given to the health department to maintain regular monitoring to prevent the spread of diseases.
Many senior officials were present in the review meeting
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated that good governance means providing relief to the public and there will be no laxity in this at any level. Many senior government level officials were present in this important meeting. Principal Secretary R. K Sudhanshu, L. Fanai, Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth and Chief Forest Conservator Kapil Lal along with other secretaries and heads of departments were present in the secretariat. Apart from this, District Magistrates of all the districts remained connected to the meeting through video conferencing.
