Disha Patani was trolled online after arriving at the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations in a red lehenga with a deep-cut blouse, with several users saying the outfit wasn’t appropriate for a religious occasion.
The 34-year-old wore a red ghagra with intricate embroidery, a plunging-neckline blouse and a matching dupatta draped over one shoulder, paired with statement earrings and loose hair.
While the Baaghi actress looked striking, the outfit quickly became the target of online criticism.
One user wrote, “Kriti sanon ko troll krne walo zra yaha bhi dekhlo,” referencing the earlier backlash Kriti Sanon faced over her Raksha Bandhan ad.
Another commented, “Everyone is in decent dress-up but she can never wear a fully covered dress,” while a third wrote, “Koi bhi festival ho ye ek type ka hi blouse pehnti hai.”
One more user commented, “I am not against to the dress but !!! This fashion is not for pooja pupose.”
Others added, “At least she could have worn something nicer today,” and “Ganpati celebration ke liye ayi h ya song perform krne.”
A user showed her frustration as, “There is no sense in wearing clothes at puja or festival.”
This comes soon after a similar row involving Kriti Sanon, who faced criticism in August over her GIVA jewellery ad, where she wore a bralette-style blouse for a Raksha Bandhan-themed campaign.
That controversy also drew comment from Kangana Ranaut, though Kriti defended her choice, writing on Instagram, “Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline.”
GIVA eventually pulled the ad, citing respect for Indian culture as well as safety concerns for its stores and staff.
On the work front, Disha was recently seen in Awarapan 2 alongside Emraan Hashmi, and is set to make her Hollywood debut in The Portal of Forcedirected by Kevin Spacey.
