Lucknow. The government has taken a big step to promote the expansion of cities and new residential facilities in Uttar Pradesh. The Cabinet has approved the proposal to develop new townships in three areas including the capital Lucknow. A total amount of Rs 655.76 crore will be provided for this project.
Three development authorities will get funds
Under the government plan, Rs 531.47 crore will be given to Lucknow Development Authority, Rs 65.86 crore to Unnao-Shuklaganj Development Authority and Rs 58.43 crore to Rae Bareli Development Authority. This amount will be used mainly in the process of acquiring land and developing the township.
The first installment will be released soon
Let us tell you that to speed up this project, the government will give Rs 300 crore to Lucknow as the first installment, while Rs 40 crore each to Unnao and Rae Bareli Development Authority. This will be used as seed capital.
Emphasis on planned cities
The objective of the Chief Minister Urban Expansion/New Cities Promotion Scheme is to systematically expand cities and create better housing options for the growing population. This scheme is applicable from 6 April 2023.
Under the scheme, the state government can provide up to 50 percent of the cost of land acquisition as seed capital. This assistance can be given for a maximum period of 20 years. The development of new townships is expected to help meet the future urban needs with residential amenities in these areas.
