The Pistons have signed and waived forwards Dawson Garcia and Basheer Jihad Spotrac contributor Keith Smith tweets.
The moves are designed to have Garcia and Jihad join their NBA G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.
Garcia was on the Pistons’ camp roster last fall but was waived prior to opening night. He went undrafted out of Minnesota last year before joining the Pistons organization. He played 17 games for the Cruise last season, averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.1 minutes per contest.
Garcia also played for Marquette and North Carolina in his five-year college career.
Jihad played for the Pistons’ Summer League team this July, appearing in four games. Undrafted out of Arizona State last year, Jihad played for the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s affiliate, last season. He appeared in 48 games, averaging 11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 21.3 minutes per game.
Jihad also spent three seasons with Ball State in his college career before joining the Sun Devils for one season.
Signing Exhibit 10 contracts will give Garcia and Jihad the opportunity to receive bonuses worth up to $91K on top of their base G League salaries if they spend at least 60 days with the Cruise.
