Kanpur. On Tuesday, the traffic police conducted a special awareness campaign at Vijay Nagar intersection regarding the effective implementation of Sugam Traffic Scheme (Reducing Traffic Congestion – RTC Scheme). Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar, the sector in-charge made the auto drivers and the general public aware of following the traffic rules.
During the campaign, auto drivers were instructed to park their vehicles at designated places, follow rules for boarding passengers and not disrupt traffic on the road. The traffic police advised drivers to compulsorily use helmets, helmet straps and seat belts. Awareness was also given to avoid using mobile phones while driving, black films, no-parking, three-riding and driving by minors.
Traffic police personnel distributed pamphlets to the general public and informed them about road safety rules. Apart from this, people were also informed about the scheme related to helping the people injured in road accidents and were motivated to provide immediate help to the needy injured.
According to the traffic police, the main objective of the campaign is to reduce road accidents and ensure safe and smooth traffic system in the city. The officials appealed to the drivers to cooperate with the police by following the traffic rules.
