Upcoming SUVs: The midsize SUV segment is continuously growing rapidly in India. This is the reason why many new models and updated SUVs can be seen in this segment in the coming months. The special thing is that keeping in mind the needs of different customers, companies are also preparing to offer petrol, hybrid and electric powertrain options. In the coming times, SUVs from companies like Hyundai, Honda, Renault, Tata and Mahindra can be seen in the market. Let us know which models can be launched in the coming months.
Hyundai Bayon
Hyundai is working on a new SUV for the Indian market, which may be named Bayon. According to the company, its name is inspired by the city of Bayonne in the Basque region of France. The new SUV is being prepared for a fast-growing market like India.
The Bayon coming to India will be quite different from the global model. The global Bayon is a crossover based on the i20, while the India-spec model is expected to get a more traditional SUV design.
Many details of its design have been revealed in spy shots. A split headlamp setup can be seen in it like Hyundai’s other SUVs. In this, thin LED DRLs can be provided at the top and main headlamps at the bottom. Horizontal grille elements along with parking sensors and a radar module for ADAS are also seen at the front.
Honda Elevate Facelift
Honda Elevate is expected to get a facelift update soon. Changes can be made in the exterior design as well as features in the updated model.
Features like 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and ambient lighting are expected to be added to the new Elevate. Some of these features are not available in the current model or are available in a limited way.
Talking about powertrain, no major changes are expected. The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine may be retained. However, the possibility of inclusion of hybrid powertrain with the facelift will also be kept under eye.
renault duster hybrid
The new Renault Duster has already been introduced in the Indian market with petrol engine options. Now it is expected to come with a strong hybrid powertrain, which has been awaited for a long time.
The strong hybrid version of Duster can be equipped with a 1.8-litre GDI petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery pack. It has been reported to have two electric motors and 8-speed automatic transmission.
According to the company, this powertrain is said to have a total range of up to 1,000 kilometers and the ability to do up to 80 percent of the driving in pure EV mode. However, the official specifications of the India-spec model will be known only at the time of launch.
Tata Sierra Dark Edition
Tata Motors may also prepare to introduce its new Sierra in Dark Edition. Compared to the current Sierra, its look will be more all-black themed.
The Sierra Dark Edition is expected to have black exterior, black alloy wheels and minimal chrome elements. Black leatherette seats with black theme can also be found in the cabin.
It is expected that it will be based on the higher variants of Sierra. It is likely to have turbo-petrol and diesel engine options as powertrain.
Mahindra BE 07
BE 07 could also be an important model in Mahindra’s electric SUV lineup. It is expected to be launched in early 2027. This SUV has been spotted testing several times in recent months.
The BE 07 will be designed as a more traditional SUV than the BE 6. This is expected to provide more space in the cabin and make it more practical for family use.
Talking about the powertrain, the BE 07 is likely to share many technical parts with the BE 6. Battery and motor options can also be taken from BE 6. However, its official technical information will be revealed closer to the launch.
Competition will increase with multiple powertrains
Competition in the midsize SUV segment is going to increase further in the coming months. Models like Hyundai Bayon and Honda Elevate facelift can challenge the petrol segment, while Renault Duster Hybrid can attract hybrid customers. On the other hand, Tata Sierra Dark Edition will come with a different design theme and Mahindra BE 07 will provide a new option in the electric SUV segment.
