Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to India Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi. During this, discussions were held to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Om Birla UAE Ambassador Meeting: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to India Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi on Tuesday. In this meeting, discussions were held to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation between India and UAE as well as to advance the comprehensive bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting, views were also shared regarding the continuously growing relations between the two countries.
Om Birla shared the information about the meeting on the social media platform ‘X’. He told that he welcomed the UAE Ambassador to his residence. The Lok Sabha Speaker also appreciated the UAE’s active participation and constructive contribution during India’s BRICS chairmanship.
Meaningful discussion took place on India-UAE relations
According to the Lok Sabha Speaker, the meeting witnessed a warm and fruitful discussion on the multi-faceted and ever-evolving relationship between India and the UAE. The relations between the two countries are not limited only to the diplomatic level, but the role of mutual contact and cooperation is also important in many areas.
The meeting particularly discussed the issue of strengthening parliamentary cooperation. Enhancing contacts between the parliaments of the two countries and taking forward dialogue at the parliamentary level was considered an important part of the broader framework of bilateral relations. Om Birla expressed hope that parliamentary contacts and comprehensive bilateral cooperation between India and the UAE will reach new heights in the coming years.
UAE’s participation in BRICS mentioned
The role of the UAE during India’s BRICS chairmanship was also mentioned during the meeting. Om Birla appreciated the UAE’s active participation and constructive contribution. The participation of various countries in multilateral fora like BRICS also reflects the broader dimension of cooperation between India and the UAE. Along with dialogue on such forums, opportunities are also created to increase contacts at the bilateral level.
45 lakh Indians were also mentioned
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also mentioned the Indian community living in the UAE during the meeting. According to him, about 45 lakh Indians play the role of an important bridge between the two countries. The Indian community living in the UAE is an important part of the social and human contacts between the two countries. A large number of Indian citizens live and work in the UAE in various sectors and contribute to strengthening people-to-people contacts between India and the UAE.
Emphasis on furthering parliamentary contacts
A major issue of the meeting was strengthening parliamentary cooperation between India and UAE. Dialogue between parliamentary delegations, sharing of experiences and enhancing contacts at the level of democratic institutions can provide an opportunity to advance mutual understanding between the two countries. Om Birla said that relations between India and UAE are continuously progressing. He expressed hope that parliamentary contacts and comprehensive bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened in the years to come.
