Return of Ruturaj-Jadeja-Siraj
Young batsman Rituraj Gaikwad and experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have returned for this series. Ruturaj Gaikwad last played against South Africa in December 2025. He also scored a century in his last ODI innings. Despite this he was thrown out. Now, in the absence of Shreyas Iyer due to the Asian Games, Gaikwad has been re-inducted into the team.
Whereas, Ravindra Jadeja played his last ODI match against New Zealand in January 2026. He was dropped after that series, but has now returned again. Apart from this, fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has also returned, who was away from the ODI team for the last several months.
Naman Dheer and Aaqib Nabi get a chance
26-year-old young batsman Naman Dheer and fast bowler Aaqib Nabi have been included in the ODI team for the first time. Naman Dhir has got a chance in the Indian team for the first time. At the same time, Aaqib Nabi has been a part of the Test team, but has not been able to debut yet. Seeing the excellent form of Naman Dhir, the selectors have given him a chance in the ODI team. Whereas, if we talk about Aaqib Nabi, he is continuously performing brilliantly in domestic cricket. He played an important role in making Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy champion. Apart from red ball, he also has excellent statistics in List-A. In this format, Aaqib has taken 54 wickets in 36 matches.
KL Rahul becomes vice-captain
KL Rahul has been made the vice-captain for the ODI series against West Indies. Actually, Shreyas Iyer was the vice-captain of the Indian ODI team, but he will not be able to play in this series due to the Asian Games. In such a situation, this responsibility has been handed over to KL Rahul.
