New Delhi: A case of murder of a 23-year-old girl has come to light in a hotel room in Kamrup rural district of Assam. Police have arrested her alleged lover, 22-year-old Abhijeet Kindo, in this case. According to the police, the accused attacked the girl with scissors and other sharp objects and after the incident, she also allegedly tried to commit suicide, due to which she sustained injuries. The deceased has been identified as Malini Guria, a resident of Hugrajuli in Sonitpur district. According to the police, Abhijeet is originally from Udalguri district. Both were staying in a hotel located near Rangia Railway Station in Kamrup. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Malini had reached Rangia from Chennai last night with her two female companions. Where Abhijeet had gone to pick him up from the railway station. After this both reached the hotel. According to Malini's friends, Abhijeet had booked a separate room for himself in the hotel, but late at night he went to Malini's room and stayed there.
Police arrived as soon as information was received
According to police sources, on Sunday morning Abhijeet called Malini's friends and told them that he had murdered her and now he himself was going to commit suicide. After receiving the information, a railway official from Rangia informed the police about the matter. The police team immediately reached the hotel and detained the accused from the room and took him to the hospital.
During interrogation, the accused claimed that he suspected that Malini was cheating on him and used to talk to other men. Along with this, he also told the police about planning the murder in advance. However, police say that the real reason behind the murder is not completely clear yet.
Dead body sent for post mortem
A forensic team from Guwahati reached the hotel to investigate the incident and collected evidence from the spot. Police said that after preliminary action, the girl's body has been sent to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The family of the deceased has also been informed about the incident. Further investigation is ongoing in the matter.
