Bangladesh women's team has reached the semi-finals in the Asian Games 2026 without playing a match. Its quarter-final match against China was abandoned due to a wet outfield, after which it made it to the next round on the basis of better seeding. This match between Bangladesh and China was to be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nishin but due to bad weather not a single ball could be bowled. Even the toss didn't happen.

After the cancellation of the match, Bangladesh got the ticket for the semi-finals, while the Chinese team was eliminated. The rule of the tournament is that if there is no result in the knockout matches due to bad weather or any other reason, then the team with better seeding will advance.
Bangladesh team is a full member of ICC and is at number-10 in the T20 rankings. Therefore, its seeding was better than China, due to which it was successful in making it to the semi-finals. China's women's team is ranked 36th in the ICC T20 rankings.

Will the semi-finals be from India?
Bangladesh team may now face India in the semi-finals. Team India will start its campaign against host Japan on September 18. This match is going to be very easy for the Indian team, because the Japanese team is very weak in front of them. If the team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur wins this quarter-final match, then it may face Bangladesh in the semi-finals. As per the draw of the tournament, the winner of Bangladesh vs China match will face the winner of India vs Japan match.
However, Bangladesh has staked claim for a medal by reaching the semi-finals. Even if it loses to Team India in the semi-finals, it will have a chance to win the bronze medal. The losing semi-final teams will face each other in the bronze medal match, which will be played on September 22.
