After a long wait of almost seven years, the new executive of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been announced. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reconstituted the board by announcing the names of new members. A total of 18 members have been included in this new executive headed by Shashi Shekhar Vempati. The special thing is that along with Bollywood, artists from Marathi film industry have also been given a place in this executive.
Marathi artists Nishigandha Vad, Pallavi Joshi and Vaman Kendra have been included in the new executive. Therefore, these appointments are being discussed in the Marathi film industry. Whereas, the previous executive committee included actress Vidya Balan, director Vivek Agnihotri, former footballer Mihir Bhutia, actress Gautami Tadimalla, Vani Tripathi Tikku, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and director Naresh Chandra Lal along with Vaman Kendra and Ramesh Patange.
Many famous Bollywood actors have also been given a chance in the new executive committee. Actress Preity Zinta, actors Sunil Shetty and Pankaj Tripathi have been included in the new board.
The CBFC Board has been reconstituted for a period of three years or until further orders, using the powers granted under the Cinematograph Act. The last formal reconstitution of the board took place in August 2017. After a gap of seven years, the new CBFC board has been announced.

Before any Indian film can be released theatrically, it must be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification, or Censor Board. Without the certification of the censor board, no film can be officially released on the big screen.
The main job of the Censor Board is to examine the film and give it the correct certificate as per its content and subject matter. The film is given a 'U', 'UA', 'A' or other applicable category certificate.
The Board can also give instructions to change such scenes, dialogues or other content in the film which are objectionable or violate the rules. Filmmakers have to follow these guidelines and certification conditions.
