Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley has expressed happiness over the successful organization of ‘The Friendship Cup’ T-20 series played between India and Afghanistan.
Congratulating India on its 3-0 win in the three-match series, he said that the series was a wonderful celebration of cricket as well as an expression of the strong relationship between the two countries.
Rohan Jaitley said, “Congratulations to the Indian team on their memorable 3-0 series win against Afghanistan. ‘The Friendship Cup’ was a wonderful celebration of cricket.
It was a great pleasure to see the huge presence of more than 85 thousand spectators during all the three matches at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Thousands of fans from Afghanistan also reached Delhi to be a part of the occasion. The great atmosphere seen in the stadium throughout the series reflects the passion of the people for cricket in Delhi.”
He said Afghanistan playing its home series against India in Delhi was a great example of the strong ties between the two countries and the role of sport in bringing people closer. He also described it as being in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of strong relations with neighboring countries.
“We are grateful for the support and efforts of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and ICC President Jay Shah for making this series possible and giving Delhi the opportunity to be a part of this memorable chapter in international cricket,” the DDCA President said.
He said, “We are proud that DDCA and Delhi were able to play their part in hosting three exciting matches between India and Afghanistan. This gave fans the opportunity to watch great and high quality cricket between the two teams.”
