On which statement did the controversy erupt?

Satish Salian says that the statements of both the leaders, demanding a fresh investigation into his daughter's death, were presented as a political move. Aditya Thackeray had said on September 16 that he never met Disha and linking her name in the case is a campaign without evidence. At the same time, Anil Deshmukh had called the Disha case in March 2025 as a conspiracy to defame Aditya Thackeray.

Investigation into six year old death opened again

Disha Salian, 28, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai. She was the former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Sushant also died on June 14, six days after his death. In the initial investigation of Mumbai Police regarding Disha's death, it was declared a suicide. Later his father demanded a fresh investigation in the Bombay High Court.

Following instructions from the Bombay High Court, CBI has registered an FIR in the case in September. According to reports, many names including Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty have been mentioned in the FIR along with Aditya Thackeray and investigation into the case is ongoing. Although the name of a person in the FIR does not in itself prove a crime, this will be confirmed by investigation and further legal process.
