New Delhi: Before the withdrawal of monsoon, the rainy season continues in North India. There is a possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas today on 18th September. Heavy rain may occur in parts of East Rajasthan, while Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab may record rain with thunderstorms.
Heavy rain is expected in Bihar on September 18. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim also. There may be heavy rain in some areas in Odisha on September 18. In the coming days, the rainy season may intensify further in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

According to IMD, withdrawal of south-west monsoon may start from western Rajasthan from September 19. However, this does not mean that monsoon will depart from the rest of the states immediately. Rain will continue in East, Central and South India. There may be rain with thunder and strong winds in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Wind speed can reach 30 to 50 kilometers per hour. The rainy season is expected to intensify further between 20th and 23rd September.
Active season in West and South India
Rain may continue in Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and Konkan-Goa from 18 to 23 September. In these areas, the wind speed can reach 30-40 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 50 kilometers per hour. Rain is expected in many parts of Kerala, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu during September 18-23. Rain activities may also increase over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana between September 20-23. At some places the wind speed can reach 40-50 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour.
The withdrawal of monsoon will start from September 19, but due to different weather systems, rains will continue in many parts of the country. Alert has been issued in Delhi-NCR, UP-Bihar, Central India and South India.
