Unitarian Anniversary Day is celebrated every year on 18 September in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills area of Meghalaya. This day marks the beginning of the local Unitarian faith movement started by Hajom Kisore Singh. Singh held the first Unitarian Church prayer meeting at his home in Jawai on September 18, 1887. This religion is locally known as Unitarian. It emphasizes traditional Khasi culture, social responsibility and human values as well as belief in one God. The Unitarian community keeps holding special prayer meetings on this occasion.
