Lucknow, Read: The logo and gleaming trophy of the Lucknow Women's Cricket League, which is going to be organized for the first time in the Nawabi city, was unveiled in the auditorium of BBD Badminton Academy on Thursday. League Chairman and CAL President Dr Navneet Sehgal and CAL Secretary KM Khan unveiled the logo and trophy. The players' auction will take place on Friday.
League Chairman Dr. Navneet Sehgal said that this is the first big event of its kind for the women cricketers of Lucknow. For the first time, efforts are being made to provide better facilities to women players with a professional attitude. He told that the league will start from 23rd September, while the final will be played on 28th September. The initial matches of this league between six teams will be played at the SAGE Cricket Ground located at Gomti River Front. The semi-final and final matches will be held under floodlights at KD Singh Babu Stadium.
140 players will get a chance
The league chairman said that through the league, local women cricketers will get the experience of competitive cricket. Also, they will have a strong platform to move forward at the state and national level in future. Women players will get an opportunity to showcase their talent and sportsmanship through day-night T-20 cricket. There will be about 140 players, six teams and 12 matches in the league. Women cricketers will get a chance to showcase their talent through a total of 480 overs matches.
10 to 25 thousand rupees to rated players
Rating cricketers playing in the league will be given Rs 10 to 25 thousand. Apart from Chandni Sharma, who has played for India-A, the rating players include all-rounders Sandhya Yadav, Sonali Singh, Arju Singh, Anvesha Chatterjee, batsmen Anshu Tiwari, Shashi Balan, Priyanshi Yadav, Priyanshi Pandey, Ayushi Srivastava and bowlers Shilpi and Sandhya Chhetri. The base price of other players has been kept at three to five thousand rupees according to their level.
The format of the league will be like this
All the matches of the league will be of 20-20 overs each. There will be a powerplay of six overs. If the scores of both the teams are equal then Super Over will be used to decide the result. Six teams will be divided into two pools and the pool stage will be contested on a league basis. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals. The two winning teams of the semi-finals will face each other in the title match. CAL Secretary KM Khan, League Commissioner SP Mishra, Organizing Secretary and Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Shelly, Organizing Committee Chairman Piyush Pandey, Joint Secretary Naeem Chishti, Finance Committee Rakesh Singh and all the officials and dignitaries associated with the Organizing Committee were present in the program.
