Ramayana had remained one of the most awaited Indian films ahead of its planned Diwali 2026 release. With the film set to reach audiences in both Hindi and English, a report had now revealed a difference between the two versions.
According to a report by Variety Indiathe English version was expected to be around 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi version. The report stated that the international version would not include songs and that some scenes had also been shortened.
A source cited in the report said the changes were made with international audiences in mind. “The film will not have any songs and also some scenes will be trimmed to suit the palate of international audiences,” the source said.
The source further explained that Indian viewers were more familiar with longer films featuring songs, while the same format was considered less common for international audiences.
The makers, however, had not released an official statement confirming the reported changes at the time of publication.
The update came shortly after the release of the film’s first song, Jai Jai Ram. The track had been released during Ganesh Chaturthi and featured Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
The song had been composed by AR Rahman and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. It had shown moments connected to Ram and Sita, including their wedding and parts of Ram’s journey.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana featured Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film had been produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Ramayana Part One was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on Diwali 2026.
