- Maruti Suzuki dispatched more than 10 lakh vehicles by rail from its Hansalpur and Manesar plants.
- More than 3 lakh vehicles were dispatched from these two sidings till August 31 in the financial year 2026-27.

Maruti Suzuki has reached another milestone by increasing the use of rail transport in its vehicle transport. The company has collectively transported more than 10 lakh vehicles through the in-plant railway sidings erected at its plants at Hansalpur in Gujarat and Manesar in Haryana. Out of this, around 7.9 lakh vehicles have been directly dispatched from the Hansalpur plant, while around 2.1 lakh vehicles have been dispatched from Manesar.
The railway siding at Hansalpur was commissioned in March 2023, while the facility at Manesar became operational in June 2025. The milestone of 10 lakh vehicles has been achieved in 3 years and 5 months from both these locations. Interestingly, in the current financial year 2026-27, more than 3 lakh vehicles have been transported through these two sidings till August 31. Both these facilities account for about 70% of the company's total rail dispatches.

The importance of rail in Maruti Suzuki's logistics has grown significantly over the past decade. In the financial year 2014-15, only 5% of the company's vehicle traffic was carried by rail. The same percentage reached 26.5% in FY 2025-26. Now the company has set a target of dispatching 35% vehicles through rail by FY 2030-31.
Increased use of rail reduces the need to truck finished vehicles to outside loading terminals. It helps reduce truck traffic, fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Since the financial year 2014-15, Maruti Suzuki has transported a total of more than 33 lakh vehicles by rail. Of these, 10 lakh vehicles have left direct in-plant siding.

This railway siding has been developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Maruti Suzuki has now planned a separate in-plant railway siding for its Kharkhoda plant in Haryana as well. Therefore, the share of railways in the vehicle dispatch of the company is likely to increase further in future.
