New Delhi. India has slammed Pakistan over the collision of Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain with Indian warship INS Kolkata in the Arabian Sea. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, we have seen Pakistan's response to the protest lodged by us, it is the same as usual evasiveness and an attempt to hide the truth. We also expected that a similar response would come from Pakistan. Rejecting the allegations made by Pakistan, Jaiswal said that INS Kolkata has not suffered any major damage and is deployed in the sea.
Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Jaiswal said INS Kolkata was on routine deployment in the Western Arabian Sea when Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain behaved in an unacceptable and unprofessional manner at sea, which led to the collision. The dangerous overtaking maneuver by PNS Hunain was in gross violation of Article 10 of the Agreement on Advance Notification of Military Exercises, Maneuvers and Movement of Troops signed between India and Pakistan in April 1991. This article makes it clear that naval units at sea should not come within three nautical miles of each other. Apart from this, the Pakistani ship also violated international rules to prevent collision at sea.
Jaiswal said, the Pakistan side is once again advised that to prevent any such incidents from happening again, all their military units should take appropriate precautions and need to respect the provisions of the relevant agreements between the two sides. Let us tell you that Pakistan had alleged that the Indian warship had come aggressively close to its ship. In this matter, India had summoned the Charge d'Affairs of Pakistan High Commission in Delhi to the Ministry of External Affairs and lodged a protest over this incident.
