RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the 'Youth Religion Parliament-2026' in Ujjain, explained the difference between religion and religion. He said that religion is often confused with religion, although the concept of both is different.
Tezzbuzz Desk– Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat is on a two-day tour of Madhya Pradesh these days. On Friday, he participated in the 'Youth Religion Parliament-2026' organized in Ujjain. During this, he expressed his views on the relationship between religion and human life.
'Youth Religion Parliament-2026 Avantika' is being organized by Sevagya Sansthan from 17th to 19th September at Geeta Bhawan, Ujjain. About 1600 to 1700 youth, students, teachers and religious leaders from more than 24 states of the country have participated in the program.
Mohan Bhagwat said that generally religion is understood in the sense of religion, whereas there is an important difference between the two. He said that religion may be associated with a particular belief, sect or religious tradition, but the scope of religion is much broader than this. According to him, religion is related to the existence of the universe and its rules.
The Sangh chief said that it is not right to link religion only with old age or any particular stage of life. Religion continues from the beginning of existence till its end. Whether a person believes it or not, the system of creation continues to function according to the principles of religion. He also described religion as the basis of happiness.
Explaining the word religion, Bhagwat said that it comes from the word 'religo', which is said to mean to bind or keep in discipline. He said that instead of binding a person, religion shows him the path to liberation.
Bhagwat also said that when religion runs in accordance with religion, it takes man in the direction of salvation, but when religion gets separated from religion, situations like communal disputes and atrocities in the name of religion can arise.
He said that people should change the notion in their minds that religion is religion. According to him, religion is a comprehensive principle related to human life and creation, whereas religion can be related to a particular religious system or tradition.
