Under the Chief Minister Teerth Yatra Scheme of the Punjab Government, 5,10,807 devotees have visited religious places. Eligible people aged 50 years and above are being provided free AC sleeper bus, food and accommodation facilities.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that under the Chief Minister Teerth Yatra Scheme, which was started on November 9, 2025, so far more than 5.10 lakh devotees have visited various religious places in Punjab and other states. At present, 95 AC buses are being operated under the scheme and 12,485 trips have been completed.
People aged 50 years and above can avail the benefits of this scheme. Apart from traveling by AC sleeper bus, accommodation and food facilities are also provided free of cost by the government to the eligible devotees.
The government extended the scheme on 12 August 2026. After this, religious places like Shri Khatu Shyam-Salasar Balaji Dham, Haridwar-Rishikesh and Mathura-Vrindavan were also included in the scheme.
A team of support staff and medical staff has been deployed in each bus to take care of the safety and health of the devotees during the journey. Special teams have also been arranged at different stages of the yatra, so that the devotees can get assistance if needed.
Air-conditioned accommodation is arranged for the devotees to stay. Important facilities like cleanliness and toilet are also taken care of here. Food and other necessary facilities are also provided during the journey.
According to the Punjab Government, this scheme is not limited to any particular category. People of 50 years of age or above belonging to any region, caste or religion can avail its benefits. The objective of the scheme is to provide safe and convenient travel to elderly devotees wishing to visit religious places.
After completion of the yatra, devotees are also given a brass glass as a memento along with the prasad. Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the concerned teams have been asked to ensure necessary arrangements for the convenience of the devotees and smooth conduct of the yatra.
