Gurugram. Taking suo motu cognizance of suspected illegal activities, Gurugram Police and Haryana State Women Commission conducted a joint raid on 18 spa centers running in Sapphire 90 Mall located in Sector-90 of the city late on Friday night. This raid lasted for about six hours from 10 pm to 3 am.
On the occasion, Haryana State Women Commission Chairperson Usha Priyadarshi along with her team and Duty Magistrate were also present. This massive operation involving around 100 policemen was completed under the supervision of ACP Headquarters 1 Abhilaksh Joshi. He is also a special police officer appointed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. About 20 inspectors and sub-inspectors were also included in the team.
During simultaneous raids, prima facie evidence of suspected illegal activities was found in eight out of 18 spa centres. Police have seized important electronic, digital, physical and documentary evidence from the spot. This evidence is being examined to ascertain the role of owners, operators, managers and facilitators of spa centres.

During the raid, about 30 women and 20 men were found present at the spot. Police are interrogating the women to ascertain their circumstances and identify possible persons helping in such activities. The role of the men present there is also being confirmed and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence.
Initial investigation and action has been taken by ACP Headquarters-1 Special Police Officer, while further detailed investigation will be done by the in-charge of Police Station Kherki Daula.
