Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the Gen-Z youth in the sixth Youth Religion Parliament in Ujjain, spoke on Sanatan culture, national responsibility and social harmony.
Mohan Bhagwat at the Youth Religion Parliament said that he was very happy when he heard about the 'Youth Religion Parliament' because the youth are thinking about religion. He said that this is rarely heard these days. Whenever religion is discussed, people say that it is an old thing. Geeta and Ramayana are considered to be books to be read after retirement but it is not so.
He said that this religion lasts at least from the beginning to the end of existence and everything goes on accordingly. You may believe it or not. Some things follow rules. The sun is there and you can't do anything about it. If you don't believe in it, that's your choice but its rise and fall will definitely continue.
Mohan Bhagwat said that when a person acts egoistically, believing that everything is under his control and everything should happen as per his wish, he misunderstands that things will work as per his wish. However this does not happen.
He said, “I am not asking you to empty your minds so that I can fill them with my thoughts. This knowledge is not mine. I am saying that if we want to understand Dharma, we must first free ourselves of some of the ideas that are already ingrained in our minds.”
He said that one thing he had said earlier also was that religion is not for old age. Religion has been there since the beginning of creation and will remain till the end of creation. Everything goes accordingly.
Mohan Bhagwat said that in reality religion is such an imagination that one can spend one's entire life exploring it, yet one cannot understand it. He said, “For me, my dharma is determined by my birth and continues till my death, because dharma is the cause of all happiness.”
He said why such a big Mahabharata history was told? So that people can understand religion. There is Bhagwat Geeta in Mahabharata, it preaches duty, it preaches work. There are five verses at the end of Mahabharata, which are called Bharat Savitri. That is the essence of Mahabharata.
He said, “The material comforts you want in life, and the fulfillment of your desires and aspirations, come only through Dharma. Follow Dharma, and it will give you all happiness in life and lead to liberation. Never abandon Dharma out of fear, out of greed, or even to save your life, to fulfill any desire.”
Explaining the meaning of religion, Mohan Bhagwat said that it is not a rule which we see only in the laboratory or according to which a machine is made. Religion is in our conduct. He said that Dharma has a meaning which we do as our duty, like the duty of a son or the duty of a king. Similarly, flowing is the nature of water and burning is the nature of fire.
He told that when he studied in Marathi medium, the name of his class 10 physics book was 'General Properties of Matter'. In Marathi it was called 'common goods religion'. 'General' means 'common', 'mater' means 'object' and 'property' means 'religion'.
Mohan Bhagwat said, “Religion determines the duty of every thing and every living being by keeping in mind its nature.” He said that Dharma connects all for the observance and progress of the entire world, helps all to move forward without division and determines the duties of all living beings and things towards the world keeping in mind their nature.
He told the youth that you do not need to accept it completely. Think about it. If you are currently thinking about religion, discuss it. When I look at the history of India, I see it everywhere. Yudhishthira spent his entire life trying to understand what Dharma is. He lost everything but never left religion.
