Police raid against fake Action-7 tobacco in Barhi, 523 packets seized

Barhi, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand:- Police raided two shops located on Gaya Road in Barhi police station area and recovered fake pan masala and tobacco products being sold in the name of the company. Police have seized a total of 523 packets of Action-7 Tobacco from both the shops. Of these, 505 packets are said to be yellow in color and 18 packets are said to be blue in color.

According to the police, during investigation all the products were found to be fake. According to the police, on September 16, 2026, Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police had received secret information from Siddharth Gaur, age 28, Operations Department, Brave Star Investigation, that fake products of Action-7 Tobacco belonging to the name of Som Aroma Private Limited Company were being sold in Hazaribagh and Barhi area.

A police team was formed to verify the information and take action. After this, the police team raided RK Traders located on Gaya Road, Barhi and conducted investigation. 505 packets of yellow color Action-7 Tobacco were recovered from the shop of shop operator Sandeep Seth, aged 44 years, father Rajendra Prasad. According to the police, during investigation all the packets were found to be fake. During interrogation, Sandeep Seth told the police that he had purchased the said goods from nearby shopkeeper Rohit Varnwal, father Naresh Prasad Varnwal.

After this the police team raided Naresh Prasad store located on Gaya Road. There, the shop of Rohit Varnwal's father Naresh Prasad, aged 62, was investigated, from where 18 packets of blue color Action-7 Tobacco were recovered. According to the police, during investigation these products were also found to be fake. Police said that the manufacturing and expiry dates were not marked on the 505 packets recovered. Apart from this, the maximum retail price (MRP) was found to be Rs 5 on the outside of the box, while the MRP was found to be Rs 3 on the pouch inside.

According to the police, fake products were being manufactured, sold and stored using the company's name, which has come to light in violation of the copyright of the company concerned. During the raid, police duly seized a total of 523 packets of fake Action-7 tobacco including 505 packets of yellow color and 18 packets of blue color. In the case, the names of Sandeep Seth, operator of RK Traders, Gaya Road, Barhi and Rohit Varnwal associated with Naresh Prasad Store have come to light.

The police is investigating the matter and taking necessary legal action. Sub-divisional police officer Barhi Radhaprem Kishore, police inspector cum station in-charge Barhi Binod Kumar, police sub-inspector Santosh Kumar, police sub-inspector Kapul Deepak Nag, police sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar Bhokta, police sub-inspector Prithvi Harijan, besides the armed forces and drivers of Barhi police station were involved in the action.
