New Delhi:After installing Bappa in the house with full rituals on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, preparations for immersion have started in every house. Some families bid farewell to Ganpati on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, while some immerse Bappa beforehand as per their old beliefs. This year, Bappa was established on 14th September along with Ganesh Chaturthi, hence 19th September becomes the sixth day. But according to the traditions of Panchang, the third, fifth, seventh day and Anant Chaturdashi day are considered most auspicious for Ganesh immersion. Therefore, it would be more auspicious to bid farewell to Bappa on 20th September i.e. the seventh day instead of 19th September.
Many auspicious times have been suggested for Ganesh immersion on 20 September 2026. In the morning, Chara, Labh and Amrit Muhurta will be from 07:40 to 12:14. The auspicious time in the afternoon is from 13:46 to 15:17. In the evening, auspicious, amrit and char muhurat will be from 18:20 to 22:46. Apart from this, the auspicious time in the night will be from 01:43 to 03:12 in the early hours of September 21 and the auspicious time in the morning will be from 04:40 to 06:09.
Can only men do immersion?
It is a common belief that only men can do Ganesh Visarjan, but no such rule is mentioned in the scriptures. If women have been worshiping Ganapati at home, they can also bid farewell to the idol by participating in the Uttar Puja. Similarly, children can also bid farewell to Bappa by worshiping him as per the rituals. In fact, from the religious point of view, the most important thing is devotion, cleanliness and following the correct method.
Why is Uttar Puja necessary before immersion?
Before bidding farewell to Ganpati, the tradition of Uttara Puja and Aarti is performed. This is considered the last and farewell puja of Ganeshotsav. In this puja, first of all a lamp is lit in front of the idol of Ganapati, then flowers, akshat, durva, incense and naivedya are offered to him. After this, aarti is performed and wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the family are made and considering the resolution taken at the time of establishment fulfilled, Bappa is bid farewell with reverence. After this the idol is taken with respect to the immersion site. Let us tell you that this year Anant Chaturdashi is falling on 25th September, which is considered to be the most important day of Ganesh immersion.
