Tezzbuzz Desk- People usually eat pineapple as a fruit, but its pickle is also very special in taste. The special thing is that not a single drop of oil has to be used in making this pickle. The spicy taste of spices along with sweet and sour pineapple makes it perfect to eat with dal, rice, roti and paratha.

Chef Kunal Kapoor has given the recipe of this pineapple pickle, in which there is no need to grind the spices. In this, fresh spices are used and there is no need to keep the pickle in sunlight to prepare it. It does not take much time to make it.

What is needed to make pineapple pickle?

For this pickle, you will need a medium sized pineapple, sugar, salt, black salt, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon stick and star anise. Apart from this, green chilli and fresh red chilli are also used.

Prepare pineapple pickle like this

First of all, heat water in a pan. Add sugar, salt and black salt in it and boil. After this add spices like mustard, cumin, black pepper, clove, cinnamon and star anise. Let the water boil well, so that the flavor of the spices gets mixed well in it.

Now make a slit in the middle of green and red chillies. Take care that the chillies are not completely separated. After this, wash the pineapple thoroughly, peel it and cut it into long slices.

Place pineapple slices in a clean glass jar. Add slit green and red chillies between them. Now pour the prepared spicy water into the jar after it cools completely. Put the remaining spices in the pan into the jar and close the lid tightly.

Leave this jar like this for at least a day. Pineapple pickle will be ready to eat from the next day. To make this, neither oil is required nor there is a need to keep the pickle in the sun.
