Craig Ervin created history at the age of 41, Mohammad Nabi's record broken

Delhi: Former Zimbabwe captain Craig Erwin made a special record in his name as the oldest batsman in the third ODI played against Australia in Harare. Erwin created a new record in ODI cricket among batsmen from full member countries by scoring a half-century at the age of 41 years and 32 days. However, his innings could not give victory to Zimbabwe and Australia won by one wicket in a thrilling match and won the three-match series 3-0.

Erwin's brilliant innings

Ervin, who came to bat at number five, scored 59 runs in 79 balls. His innings included five fours. He added 80 runs for the fourth wicket with Innocent Kaiya. After this, he also made an important partnership of 61 runs with captain Sikandar Raza. After Erwin's dismissal, Zimbabwe's innings faltered and the team could score only 271 runs in 50 overs.

Raza and Kaiya also took charge

Sikandar Raza played an important inning of 81 not out, while Innocent Kaiya scored 55 runs. After completing his half-century, Kaiya left the field due to injury. At one time, Zimbabwe's score was 206 runs for three wickets and the team seemed to be approaching 300, but due to continuous fall of wickets in the last 10 overs, the run pace slowed down.

Australia won the match by 1 wicket

Chasing the target, Australia scored 272 runs for 9 wickets in 49.5 overs. Josh English laid the foundation of victory by playing a brilliant century innings of 103 runs. In the lower order, Nathan Ellis scored 36 unbeaten runs. Brad Evans took four wickets for Zimbabwe, but the unbeaten 27-run partnership of Ellis and Spencer Johnson for the last wicket turned the match in favor of Australia.

Erwin made a special record

This was Erwin's second half-century in ODIs after crossing the age of 40. With this he broke the record of Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, who had scored a half-century at the age of 40 years and 286 days.
