Speaking at a Karam Maha Samavesh and cultural program in Purulia district, Adhikari accused the previous Trinamool government of isolating the Jangalmahal area by creating a feud between Kurmi and other communities.
Recently, the state government had said it would send a 'further common justification report' to the Center for including the Kurmi community in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list.
On Sunday, in the presence of Ajit Mahato, a prominent supporter of the Kurmi community, Chief Minister Adhikari again said his government will ensure that people of Bankura and Purulia districts no longer feel isolated.
He alleged that the previous government repeatedly lied, created discord among the natives and tried to divide Jangalmahal. He further said that when you protested, you were tortured. Police were used. False cases were registered. Even children and the elderly were not spared.
Announcing the withdrawal of cases against the Kurmi protesters, the officer said the government has the responsibility to protect the dignity of language, culture, tradition and rights.
He criticized the previous government for selling the mountains and promised that no natural resources would be auctioned during his tenure.
The officer, who was present as the chief guest at the Karam Maha Samabha organized at Karadi Ground in Purulia-I Block, said that this is the first time that a Chief Minister has been invited to the event.
He announced an allocation of Rs 50 crore for the Kurmi Development Board and promised to increase the amount if required.
He also said that arrangements are being made to start air flights in Purulia soon, renovate Purulia Zoo and bring cheetahs to the district.
