According to the official list of holidays of Jharkhand government for the year 2026, schools in the state are also going to remain closed during this period. Tomorrow in Ranchi and other districts of Jharkhand, State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and all government and private banks like HDFC, ICICI and Axis will remain closed. However, except Assam and Kerala, banks in all other states of the country will remain open normally as per their scheduled timings.
What is the importance and tradition of Karma Puja?
Let us tell you that Karma Puja in Jharkhand is a very famous and sacred local festival related to nature, environment and agriculture. About seven days before the beginning of this festival, women go near a river or pond, bring sand from there and sow grain seeds in a basket, which is called 'Java' in the local language. After this, it is regularly worshiped and taken care of with full devotion for seven consecutive days. On this special day, the branches of the Karam tree are worshipped. There is a deep belief that Karam Devta bestows happiness, prosperity and good fortune on the family and protects them from every evil.
