Neagley may have stepped away from the main Reacher story, but Maria Stone isn’t closing the door on another team-up. The actor, who plays Frances Neagley across the Jack Reacher TV universe, says her character’s future with Reacher comes down to one thing.
Maria Sten on if Frances Neagley could return in Reacher Season 5
Maria Sten discussed the possibility during an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley for Neagley Season 1. While she welcomed the chance to let Neagley lead a story without Reacher, she stressed that the two characters could still reunite. “We always want to keep it open to see what feels good,” Sten said, adding that the writers will determine what works for each season. “It’s up to the writers to decide what they feel is correct for each season. So we’ll see is what I can say,” Sten explained.
Neagley’s future in Reacher remains wide open, even though the next season is adapting Lee Child’s Make Me, the 20th novel in the Jack Reacher series, where the character is never mentioned. The show has already played fast and loose with that rule, bringing Neagley into Season 1’s Killing Floor and Season 3’s Persuader despite her absence from those books.
For now, Maria Sten’s character gets the spotlight all to herself. Prime Video released all eight episodes of the Neagley spinoff on September 16, sending her on a mission that does not revolve around Reacher. The gamble has also landed well with critics so far, with the series carrying a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes from dozens of reviews. On IMDbNeagley has a decent 7.8 rating.
The franchise has already left the door cracked open for another crossover. Reacher himself turned up in Neagley, so the two shows can easily share the same playground when the story calls for it. Their long-running partnership only makes another team-up feel like a natural possibility, especially after seasons of watching them work side by side as an action pair.
There is no official word yet on Maria Sten joining Reacher Season 5, despite production already being underway.
