Tezzbuzz Desk- Popular and veteran actor Anant Nag has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor of Indian cinema. Anant Nag is one of the finest actors of Indian cinema and has been a part of the film world for almost 5 decades. He has worked in more than 300 films. He has been awarded this prestigious award for his important contribution to cinema. A few days ago, his name was announced for this award by the Government of India.
The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony was held on 22 September in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. In this ceremony, the best films, artists and writers of the year 2024 were honored with National Awards. At the ceremony, Anant Nag was honored by President Draupadi Murmu by giving him a Golden Lotus medal and a shawl. When he reached the stage to receive the award, he was given a standing ovation.
Prize money of Rs 10 lakh along with medal
Along with the Golden Lotus medal and shawl, Anant Nag has also been given a cash prize money of Rs 10 lakh. On September 16, information was revealed that Anant Nag would be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated him after the announcement.
Congratulating him, PM Modi had written on X, “Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag ji on receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He has left a deep mark on Indian cinema, especially Kannada cinema, through his natural acting, brilliant acting and great versatility for many decades. There was a different depth and truth in every character he played.”
5 decades of brilliant career
Ananth Nag entered the film world with the Kannada film 'Sankalp' in 1973. After this he also worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English language films. He has been a part of more than 300 films, out of which about 250 films are from Kannada cinema.
