The shooters have targeted 5 medals, which include 4 silver and 1 bronze. 1 Bronze was won by Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Suchika Tariyal.
501 players from India are participating in the Asiad being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, of which 30 are shooters. The shooting team had won a record 22 medals including 7 gold in the last Asian Games. The shooters have made a good start this time too but they still seem far away from their previous performance. However, the events of big medal contenders like Manu Bhaker, Isha Singh and Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar are yet to be held.

How many medals can the Indian shooting team win?
The 30-member Indian shooting team is competing for medals in 28 events. According to experts, the shooting team can win around 20 medals. Isha Singh is a strong contender for gold in the women's 25 meter pistol event. He won the 25m pistol event with a world record score of 43/50 at the ISSF World Cup final in Munich in May. After this, in July he also won the gold medal in the Hangzhou World Cup.
Double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker will also challenge in the 25 meter pistol event. She will also go for a medal in the Women's 10 meter Air Pistol. Suruchi Singh is also a strong contender for a medal in this event. He showed his form by winning the gold medal at the 2026 ISSF World Cup in Munich with a score of 242.1.
The Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions team consisting of the trio of Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Neeraj Kumar and Rudranksh Patil also has strong chances of getting gold. Aishwarya is coming after winning gold in the Asian Championship in February this year with a world record score of 362.0. He won 4 medals in the 2023 Asian Games. Rudraksh has won medals in both team and individual events in 10 meter air pistol in this Asian Games. There are big expectations from Neeraj also.
