Kuala Lumpur. India on Tuesday cautioned its citizens not to use Malaysia's 30-day 'visa-free' entry facility to look for jobs. Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur issued an advisory on social media platform The High Commission clarified that the 30 days visa-free facility is only for tourism and social visits (outings and visiting relatives). No work or job of any kind is allowed under this facility.
The Indian High Commission said in its post – There has been a significant increase in the number of Indian citizens coming to Malaysia in search of jobs using the 30-day visa-free facility. The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur cautions those Indian citizens who are looking for work in Malaysia on tourist visa.
The advisory further said that many Indians fall prey to false job offers from fraudulent agents. Due to this, they overstay, their status there becomes illegal, they are exploited and they have to face legal action including detention. This is a flagrant violation of Malaysian immigration rules.
Documents required for genuine tourists
Along with this, the High Commission has stated in its advisory that genuine tourists should carry necessary and verified documents to avoid any immigration problem upon reaching Malaysia. These include:
- confirmed return ticket
- Proof of Hotel Booking
- Online 'Malaysia Digital Arrival Card' filled three days before the date of arrival in Malaysia
- Passport with validity of at least six months
The High Commission has strongly advised citizens not to travel to Malaysia for work or employment purposes without a valid 'Work Permit' or 'Visa with Reference'.
