The Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) has appointed former Australia international Ashley Noffke as head coach of the Netherlands men’s cricket team, with the 49-year-old tasked with guiding the side through qualification for the 2027 ODI and 2028 T20 World Cups.
Noffke succeeds Ryan Cook, who is stepping down to spend more time with his family. He has signed an initial two-year contract through the end of 2028.
Noffke played one international for Australia and enjoyed an extensive First-Class career with Queensland, Western Australia and four English counties: Durham, Middlesex, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. He also played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first-ever IPL match in 2008.
He scored 3,766 First-Class runs and took 386 wickets, becoming only the third Australian to complete a season double of 500 runs and 50 wickets.
As a coach, Noffke has won a WBBL title and two Coach of the Year awards with Brisbane Heat, a WNCL championship with Queensland Fire and The Hundred title with London Spirit. He also coached Otago’s men’s team before joining Pakistan as assistant coach and bowling lead in 2025.
During his time with Pakistan, he worked alongside head coach Mike Hesson as the team reached the T20 World Cup Super Eights and the Asia Cup final.
Noffke said his approach would be built around “connection before tactics” as he looks to continue the Netherlands’ development on the international stage.
