Automobile desk: Ather Energy has launched its new electric scooter Ather Konarc in the Indian market. The company introduced it during its fourth annual community day. Built on the new EL platform, this scooter has been designed keeping in mind daily commuting. The company claims that this platform has been developed by analyzing real-world field data of about 26 lakh kilometers, which makes it quite robust and reliable for daily use. With this new model, Ather has tried to further strengthen its hold in the commuter segment.
The company has divided Ather Konarc into two different series like S and Z. At present, three different battery pack options of S series have been launched in the market, in which the range is available according to battery capacity. The earliest model in this line-up is Konarc S 100, whose ex-showroom price has been kept at ₹ 99,999. At the same time, for customers who prefer more range, the S 125 model will be available at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 1,21,999 and the S 161 model will be available at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 1,44,999. The company is also preparing to add a premium S model to the lineup with a range of 200km, while the Z series will be launched in 125km and 161km range options.
If we look at the battery and performance figures of this electric scooter, the S 100 variant has a 2.1kWh battery pack, which generates peak power of 4kW and torque of 16Nm. Its S 125 model comes with a 2.7kWh battery, while the top-spec S 161 gets a larger 3.5kWh battery. Both the big battery variants offer peak power of 4.7kW and torque of 16Nm. All three models are capable of reaching a top speed of 70kmph. Talking about the delivery timeline, the delivery of S 125 and S 161 is expected to start from the month of September. At the same time, the base variants S 100 and Z series will be launched on the roads in the early months of next year, while the S variant with 200km range will arrive later.
Many modern and practical features have been included in Ather Konarc for the convenience of the rider. The scooter has an AutoHold feature which prevents the scooter from slipping backward in slopes or traffic. Apart from this, it can be easily reversed with the help of Park Assist feature. A new Magic-Key feature has also been provided, with the help of which the boot is unlocked through the smartphone app. Konarc Z 161 features AutoPop, which opens the boot automatically. To further improve safety in the Z series, Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) has been provided, which prevents the rear wheel from locking during sharp braking and reduces the stopping distance.
For tech-savvy consumers, the Konarc Z's dashboard offers Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation and WhatsApp connectivity, while live cricket scores can also be viewed when the scooter is parked. To continue the smart features, Ather Connect subscription has been provided, with which features like Theft & Tow Alert, live tracking, ride stats and over-the-air (OTA) updates are available. Safety mechanisms like Vehicle FallSafe and AirWalk are also included in the top models, which provide extra control and safety to the rider in case the scooter falls or while walking.
