Ahead of the men’s cricket event in the Asian Games 2026, Bangladesh skipper Litton Das has revealed his goal. The 31-year-old told the media that he aims to reach the final. Bangladesh will begin their campaign on 29th September in the quarter-final.
Bangladesh won the Gold Medal in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. They beat Afghanistan by five wickets in the final in a tournament that didn’t feature India but had the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
“I feel we are prepared, and the target is definitely clear. Since we are going into a tournament, we want to reach the final and hopefully do something good there,” Litton Das said.
“The preparation has been good. We have had the opportunity to play two practice games after a long time. As you know, our last T20I series was in Zimbabwe, so these practice games have given us an opportunity to build our bond as a team,” he added,
When asked about the expectations, Das mentioned, “Everyone will have expectations. I will be going there to do something good. Our players are eager to play this tournament because it does not come around every year. You get franchise leagues or national team assignments regularly, but this tournament is a rare opportunity. Every player is excited, and we will all try to fulfil our dream.”
Tawhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam are part of the squad. They also have Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who is an exciting batter at the top of the order. The experience of Najmul Hossain Shanto will also hold the team in good stead.
When asked about the conditions, Litton said: “We are trying to assess the conditions and have watched the women’s matches to have a fair idea of what to expect.”
