Bank employees are going to go on strike for three consecutive days next week, about which banks have started giving information to their customers through messages. This strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), and to minimize its impact on the customers, the Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI has taken a major decision.
First of all let's talk about this strike. The functioning of banks is going to be badly affected in the last week of the month, because UFBU has announced a three-day nationwide bank strike. This strike will start from Monday 28th September and will continue till Wednesday 30th September. Just before this strike, there is a weekly holiday on 26th and 27th September, which means that overall a situation of long holiday could have arisen in the banks.
RBI gives big relief, banks will open on 27th September
The Reserve Bank has taken an important step to ensure that the banking needs of the general public are not affected due to banks being closed for five consecutive days. According to RBI, all public sector banks and regional rural banks will remain open and operate normally on Sunday i.e. 27 September 2026. The Reserve Bank of India has permitted all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and currency chests to remain fully operational on Sundays.
Government appealed to postpone the strike
It is noteworthy that the United Forum of Bank Unions is going on this strike with their demand of working five days a week. Meanwhile, the government and bank management are continuously appealing to the unions to postpone this proposed strike. The government says that the convenience and welfare of bank customers is the biggest priority of the government, hence every possible step is being taken to continue essential banking services without any interruption.
Government banks have already sent alerts to their customers and advised them to complete all the important work related to their branch before the strike starts, so that they do not have to face any problem during the strike.
