Great victory of Indian women's hockey team
The Indian women's hockey team continued its winning streak at the Asian Games 2026 by defeating Thailand 20-1 in the Pool B match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium on Wednesday.
In this match, Indian team's star player Deepika scored maximum nine goals through penalty corner. He scored in the (2nd, 8th, 9th, 24th, 33rd, 36th, 39th, 51st, 57th) minutes, taking his total number of goals to 20 in three matches in this competition.
Navneet Kaur (4th, 29th, 35th, 51st) and Rutuja Pisal (10th, 11th, 47th) scored the goals. Both players scored hat-tricks for the second consecutive time in Aichi-Nagoya. Neha (19th), Lalremsiami Hamarzote (26th), Sakshi Rana (29th) and captain Salima Tete (45th) also contributed to this big win. Supansa Samson scored a consolation goal for Thailand in the (57th) minute.
This is considered to be one of the biggest victories of the Indian women's hockey team in the Asian Games. Earlier, India had defeated Uzbekistan 19-0 in their first match and had won 17-1 over Indonesia in the second match.
Deepika started raining goals right from the beginning of the match. He completed a hat-trick in the first 10 minutes, with all goals coming from penalty corners. Navneet Kaur also scored a goal and Rutuja Pisal added two goals as India ended the first quarter with a 6–0 lead.
The Indian team, ranked eighth in the FIH women's hockey rankings, scored five more goals before half-time. India scored several goals in the third quarter as well and entered the final period with a 16-0 lead. There was some relief for Thailand in the last quarter, when they conceded four goals and managed to score one from Supansa Samson's penalty corner.
The Indian women's hockey team will face hosts Japan in their next Pool B match of the Asian Games on Friday. Singapore is also included in this group.
