Asian Games 2026: India has big medal hopes on September 23, eyes will be on Mirabai-Manu

Asian Games 2026: 23rd September is going to be very important for Indian players in the Asian Games 2026. Many players from India will stake claim for medals in different sports. Indian sports fans will especially keep an eye on weightlifting, shooting and badminton.

Star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will contest the finals of the women's 49 kg category. At the same time, Manu Bhakar, who has won two individual bronze medals in the Paris Olympics 2024, will present India's challenge in the women's 10 meter air pistol event. Apart from this, the men's badminton team will face China in the semi-finals.

Eye on Mirabai Chanu's final

Mirabai Chanu will have a chance to add another medal to India's medal haul on September 23. After winning the silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, she will now compete in the women's 49kg weightlifting final at the Asian Games.

Indian fans will keep a special eye on Mirabai's performance and a medal is expected from her.

Manu Bhaker's challenge in shooting

Manu Bhaker will be among the leading players of India in shooting. Manu, who won two individual bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will now compete in the women's 10 meter air pistol event.

Women's 10m air pistol individual qualifications and team finals are scheduled from 6:15 am. Having qualified for the individual finals, Manu Bhaker, Suruchi Singh and Isha Singh will compete in the final at 9 am.

Indian badminton team will face China

In badminton, India's men's team will face China in the semi-final match. The Indian team is already assured of at least a bronze medal. Now the team will look to make it to the finals.
