Many important things have come to light in the investigation of the case of alleged gang rape of a 17 year old girl in a park in Delhi. According to the police, Asif, one of the three accused, often used to come and go near the place of incident. Officials suspect that the incident may have been pre-planned.
The accused arrested in the case include 32-year-old Asif, 24-year-old Hemant and 24-year-old Mahesh. Asif is a vegetable wholesaler and is considered the alleged mastermind of this case. He lived near Aastha Kunj Park located near Kalkaji Temple in Delhi.
What did the officials find from Asif?
According to officials, Asif allegedly used to roam in the deserted areas around the park. During investigation, it was revealed that a pistol, knife and condom were found in his possession.

Investigation also revealed that many obscene videos were present in Asif's mobile phone. The second accused Hemant is 24 years old and it has come to light that he is a lawyer. His brother Mahesh is also 24 years old and is said to be a final year student of BSc Mathematics. During investigation, Hemant and Mahesh had deleted the search history of their phones. Police have sent the mobile phones of the three accused for forensic examination.
How did the whole incident happen?
The incident happened earlier this week. The 17-year-old victim had gone to Aastha Kunj Park with her 17-year-old friend after offering prayers at Kalkaji Temple on the occasion of her birthday. Both of them had entered the park from gate number 7. According to police sources, the eyes of the accused fell on both of them. After this the three allegedly started chasing him. It is being told that the accused followed the two for about a kilometer.
After this, the accused, posing as policemen, stopped the girl and her friend. According to sources, he used words like 'Sir' while addressing the girl's friend to reassure her. After this the accused allegedly separated the girl from her friend.
Accused of threatening with knife and pistol
It is alleged that Asif, who is married and has a 13-year-old daughter, threatened the girl and her friend with a knife and a pistol. After this, the three accused allegedly took the girl to several secluded places inside the park, where she was gang-raped. According to the report, one of the accused allegedly used to sexually assault the girl, while the other kept vigil there and would call the third accused.
Trying to destroy evidence after the incident?
After the alleged sexual assault, the three accused threatened the girl if she complained and fled from there. After this the girl and her friend managed to get out of the park and called the police. According to sources, after the incident, the three accused had dinner at a nearby place and then went to their home in Srinivaspuri. There he allegedly washed his clothes so that evidence could be destroyed. According to the police, all three accused are friends of each other since childhood.
Why was Hemant expelled from the gym?
Another information related to Hemant has come to light in the investigation. PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying that Hemant was thrown out of a gym about a month ago. According to the report, the gym management had received many complaints from women regarding his behavior. After this he was removed from the gym.
Were the accused involved in such incidents earlier also?
During the investigation, the police also suspected that the accused might have been involved in similar incidents in the park before. The officials are now investigating the old records of the three accused and their previous activities. Police are trying to find out whether he has any connection with any other criminal incident. According to the police, there was allegedly no remorse visible in the behavior of the three accused during interrogation.
At present, the police is conducting forensic examination of the mobile phones of the three, investigating their criminal records and past activities. During the investigation, efforts are also being made to find out whether this incident that took place in Aastha Kunj Park was a part of a pre-planned plan or not.
