Digital, exposed. When Chinese President Xi Jinping reached America on Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump himself reached Joint Base Andrews to welcome him. Xi has arrived in Washington with his wife Peng Liyuan on a three-day state visit. His wife Melania Trump was also present with Trump.

This visit of Xi Jinping is his first state visit to America in more than a decade. He last visited America in September 2015. This time both the countries have planned many programs regarding the visit, from formal welcome to state dinner.
Why is Trump's presence special at the airport?
It is not a common tradition for the US President to go straight to the airport to welcome a foreign head of state. For this reason, Trump's presence at Andrews Airbase is being considered a special protocol step for Xi's visit. The welcome ceremony also included military honours, national anthem and flyover.
Now the eye is on the Trump-Xi talks to be held on Thursday i.e. today. After the formal welcome at the White House, the two leaders will hold face-to-face talks. Issues like artificial intelligence, Taiwan and strategic stability are expected to be discussed along with trade and tariffs. During this period, both the countries have also agreed to extend the existing temporary understanding on trade till January.

State Dinner at the White House
A state dinner is also being held at the White House on Thursday night in honor of Xi and Peng Liyuan. After this, talks will move forward on many important issues related to the relations between the two countries.
