Aichi-Nagoya: Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwaal won the bronze medal in the mixed team skeet event at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, adding another medal to India’s shooting haul at the continental competition.
The Indian pair finished third in the mixed team skeet final with a score of 44 across six series. China produced a world-record score of 52 to claim gold, while South Korea took silver with 51.
China’s winning score surpassed the previous world record of 47, which had been held by Qatar since January 2026. Qatar finished fourth in the final with 18 points.
The medal was India’s 15th of the ongoing Asian Gamestaking the tally to one gold, six silver and eight bronze medals, according to the figures in the supplied results. It was also India’s eighth shooting medal at the Games, with the shooting tally evenly split between silver and bronze.
Anantjeet and Parinaaz qualify for final
Anantjeet and Parinaaz had entered the mixed team final after finishing fourth in the qualification round.
The Indian duo recorded 138/150 in qualification, according to Olympics.com. Qatar topped the qualification standings with 145, followed by South Korea with 143 and China with 140.
Their qualification performance secured India a place in the title clash alongside the three teams that finished above them.
Both shooters had already contributed to India’s medal tally in the team events on Wednesday.
Anantjeet played a key role in India’s men’s skeet team bronzewhile Parinaaz joined Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan in winning bronze in the women’s skeet team event.
Their mixed team success therefore gave both shooters another podium finish within two days.
China sets new world record
The mixed team skeet final turned into a record-breaking performance for China.
The Chinese pairing produced 52 pointsbreaking the previous world record of 47. South Korea came close with 51, while India finished on 44.
Qatar, which had previously held the world record, could not replicate its qualification performance in the final and finished fourth with 18 points.
The result gave China another gold medal while India added bronze to its growing shooting medal collection at Aichi-Nagoya.
India finishes fourth in men’s 10m air pistol team event
Earlier in the shooting competition, India narrowly missed out on another medal in the men’s 10m air pistol team event.
The trio of Kamaljeet, Kedarling Uchaganve and Aakash Bhardwaj finished fourth with a combined score of 1727-53x.
China topped the standings with 1743-70x, while Indonesia also scored 1743-57x and Japan finished third with 1730-54x.
Kamaljeet completed his 60 shots with a score of 580-16x and finished ninth individually. Aakash Bhardwaj was 11th with 579-20x.
Only the top eight shooters qualified for the individual final.
Kedarling finished 35th with a score of 568and India slipped from third to fourth during the team competition following his performance.
Roshibina Devi wins another Asian Games silver
India also added a silver medal in wushu, with Roshibina Devi finishing runner-up in the women’s sanda 60kg category.
Roshibina lost to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final on Thursday. She lost both rounds 0-5, with the Chinese fighter securing a 2-0 victory.
The result gave Roshibina her second consecutive Asian Games silver medalfollowing her silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
She had previously won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games, making her the first Indian woman to win medals at three consecutive editions of the Asian Games in wushu.
Roshibina’s run in Aichi-Nagoya included a notable victory over Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Thu Thuythe 2023 world champion.
She reached the final after defeating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in Wednesday’s semifinal.
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan take rowing bronze
India also secured a bronze medal in the men’s double sculls, with Satnam Singh and Salman Khan finishing third in the final.
The Indian pair clocked 6:13.25finishing 3.48 seconds behind Chinese gold medallists Yi Xudi and Nie Yide and 2.76 seconds behind silver medallists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin.
Satnam and Salman remained in second place at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m marks and were at one stage only half a second behind the Chinese pair.
However, the Indian crew lost ground during the final stretch and eventually settled for bronze.
Balraj Panwar misses rowing medal
In the men’s singles sculls, Balraj Panwar finished fourth after being overtaken during the final 500m.
Balraj was second at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m marks and appeared to be in contention for a medal heading into the final stretch.
He had a five-second advantage over Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama before the final phase. However, Sakurama and Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev moved ahead during the closing section.
Balraj eventually finished in 6:54.80eight seconds behind Sakurama and 15 seconds behind gold medallist Zhiwei Deng of China.
Despite missing out on the podium, his performance kept him in medal contention until the final stages of the race.
India adds more medals in Aichi-Nagoya
Anantjeet and Parinaaz’s mixed team skeet bronze added another medal to a productive day for India at the Asian Games.
The shooters followed their team-event medals from Wednesday with another podium finish, while Roshibina Devi continued her run of Asian Games success and Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured rowing bronze.
With shooting, wushu and rowing contributing to the medal tally, India continued to add to its haul at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
