Incident of March 2024, arrest took place in August 2025
According to the official report of the London Metropolitan Police, a complaint of rape of a woman was lodged in Brixton in March 2024. After investigating the case, the police arrested Robin Das on 27 August 2025. After this, on July 23, 2026, two formal rape charges were framed against him. Police officials have made it clear that all possible legal and psychological assistance is being provided to the victim woman. If the allegations are proved in the court, this young cricketer may face a long jail sentence.
Essex County Cricket Club’s tough stance
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Essex County Cricket Club has issued a statement confirming the suspension of its player. The club said in its official statement, ‘Essex County Cricket Club confirms that one of our contracted players recently appeared in court regarding a serious matter outside the club. The club is in constant touch with the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the relevant authorities. The suspension action is part of this process and the club will not make any further comment until the legal process continues.
