District Magistrate Charcharat Gaur has informed that according to the weather forecast and warning issued by the India Meteorological Department, Lucknow on 24 September 2026, there is a possibility of increase in rainfall activities in the state during 24 to 27 September due to the effect of intense pressure. Especially on September 25 and 26, there is a possibility of strong surface winds and thunderstorms along with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
According to the impact based forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain, strong gusty winds and thunder/thunderstorm in Sonbhadra district from 24th September to the morning of 25th September. At the same time, during September 25 to 26, there is a possibility of heavy rain and strong wind gusts at the speed of 40-50 km per hour.
The District Magistrate has appealed to the residents of the district not to leave their homes unnecessarily in case of bad weather. Especially avoid visiting rivers, streams, springs, reservoirs, dams, mining areas, low-lying areas and waterlogged places. Take special care on seasonal streams and flooded roads.
He said that in case of lightning, stay away from open spaces, trees, electric poles and objects that conduct electricity and take shelter in a safe pucca building. Keep windows and doors closed during strong winds and thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel.
During heavy rainfall, there may be waterlogging in low-lying areas and a sudden rise in the water level of rivers, streams and reservoirs. In view of the possibility of traffic being affected due to increase in water flow on small bridges and roads built on seasonal drains and streams, avoid crossing such places.
In case of reduced visibility on the road and increased slippage, drivers should control their speed and do not try to move the vehicle from submerged roads, bridges and places with strong currents.
District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority, Sonbhadra have appealed to the residents of the district to follow the warnings and advisories issued by the Meteorological Department, be alert, stay in a safe place and avoid going near rivers, streams, waterfalls and other water sources.
