New Delhi: The pair of Indian shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi have won the country's second gold medal in the Asian Games 2026. The pair performed brilliantly in the final of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event and secured first place. Kamaljeet and Suruchi not only won the gold medal, but also made the Asian record in their name. The pair finished the event with a total of 484.6 points, just 3.8 points shy of the world record.
Throughout the competition, the Indian pair remained in the lead from the beginning. The Korean team definitely tried to create pressure in the middle, but the Indian pair won by a margin of 6.6 points. In the final standings, India stood first with 484.6 points, Korea stood second with 478 points and Iran stood third with 415.8 points.
Strong play was seen in the qualification round also
The thing to note is that Kamaljeet and Suruchi had performed well in the qualification round also. This pair reached the finals by securing the top position. In the initial series he scored 196 points and by the second series this score increased to 391. With only 20 shots left, it was clear that this pair would make it to the finals, and this happened on the basis of consistent good performance.
Team got silver in Men's 50 meter rifle 3 position
Apart from this, the Indian team also won a medal in the Men's 50 meter Rifle 3 Positions event. The trio of Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Neeraj Kumar and Rudraksh Patil secured the team silver medal for India by scoring 589, 588 and 585 points respectively in the qualification. The Indian team scored a total of 1762 points, behind China (1766 points), while South Korea finished third and won the bronze medal.
Since only two players can participate in the final and Rudraksh Patil's score was third in the team, hence he is out of the race for the individual final. Now it will be interesting to see how the other two players perform in the individual finals.
